FEU joins Annual Tamaraw Count 2022, holds socio-civic outreach program in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro

Far Eastern University (FEU) regularly supports various initiatives of DENR on the Tamaraw Conservation Program. After two years since the pandemic lockdowns, FEU  Alumnus Glenn Conception and Romel Solomon, participated in the Annual Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) Population Count headed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Tamaraw Conservation Program (DENR-TCP) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

2021 Director’s Yearend Message

Together with Volunteerism Services Office, we were able to distribute 18 brand new laptops to help poor but deserving students to continue with their online classes. We also distributed almost a thousand packs of hygiene kits and groceries to the victims of typhoon Maring in Ilocos Sur and Typhoon Odette in the Visayas and in the Mindanao region.

Honoring Nonoy Marcelo: The Brave Bubwit

Severino “Nonoy” Santos Marcelo was born on January 22, 1939, in Malabon. He was famous for and widely known to be the creator of the iconic strips “Tisoy” and “Ikabod.” A brave cartoonist whose works left a critical mark in the history of Philippine Art and our society was a 1998 CCP Centennial Artist Awardee and nominated as a national artist.

BRAVING THE ODDS: Far Eastern University’s Journey and Legacies captures the University’s story for the past 90 years

Published to celebrate the university’s 93rd anniversary in 2021, the commemorative book covers the history of Far Eastern University spanning over 90 years. Roces narrates the vision of the founder and the journey towards becoming a highly distinguished higher education institution and the stories of the men and women who have been devoted to upholding the mission.

Tamaraw Nurse hailed as the 2021 Filipino-Kiwi Hero Outstanding Healthcare Professional.

Arby Manalansan, a BS Nursing batch 1994 graduate, was awarded the Outstanding Healthcare Professional during the 2021 Filipino-Kiwi Hero Awards, organized by Filipino News New Zealand. According to the awards website, Arby counseled many distressed Pinoy Migrants and defended Pinoy nurses and other migrant workers receiving unfair treatment. He is also the former President of the Filipino Nurses Association of New Zealand and is currently a Nurse Manager in a facility for the aged in Auckland.

More FEU programs earn AUN-QA certification

Far Eastern University now has 8 programs certified by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). The newly minted programs are Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and Bachelor of Elementary Education. The four programs are recognized for its strengths, ability to cope with digital trends in education, and adaptability to the new normal.

FEU Institute of Education @ 87: Continuing the Legacy

The new IE Alumni Association President, Dr. Hernando L. Bernal, Jr., envisions the association to “[r]eactivate, reach out, re-engage all FEU IE Alumni.” With the vision that “no one is left behind” under his leadership, the officers plan to create a network of professionals (Human Resource in the field of education), provide enrichment of the professional (Continuing Professional Development), and build a strong partnership with FEU community and stakeholders.

2nd International Nursing Conference

The FEU Alumni Relations Office and Institute of Nursing, in collaboration with FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation, Inc. – USA (FEUNAF, Inc. – USA), spearheaded the 2021 FEU International Nursing Conference last May 27 and 28, 2021, PST and May 26 and 27, 2021, EST. The conference is on its 2nd year of providing opportunities to nursing professionals and students to learn from expert practitioners and academicians from the best hospitals and universities in the world.

Quintin Yuyitung was illegally detained, deported, and imprisoned for daring to report on Marcos’ re-election fraud and the First Quarter Storm. Bonifacio H. Gillego traveled to the USA to escape manhunts by Marcos military men and eventually helped expose Marcos’ lies about his military service and medals.
