Super typhoon Carina brought intensified flooding, placing many areas such as Rizal and Metro Manila under a state of calamity last July. In response to the urgent needs of affected communities, Far Eastern University (FEU) swiftly took action to provide relief and support.

Through the collaborative efforts of the Alumni Relations Office (ARO), Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation (NRMF), and FEU Roosevelt, the university launched a donation drive and relief operation for communities and public schools affected by Carina in Rizal province.

The initiative was also part of FEU’s Brigada Eskwela efforts which aim to assist in the rehabilitation of public schools devastated by the super typhoon, thereby ensuring a safe and humane reopening of classes.

Oplan Typhoon Carina raised a total of P507,799.50 in cash and in-kind donations.

Last Aug, 1 and 2, FEU participated in the cleanups and refurbishing of two public schools, namely Balanti Elementary School and Malanday Elementary School, as they gear up for the opening of classes last Aug. 5.

Donations including relief packs consisting of food and hygiene items, cleaning and painting materials as well as school supplies were also distributed in the relief operation at the Malanday Elementary School last Aug. 6.

Five hundred beneficiaries including students, teachers, non-teaching personnel and FEU employees benefited from the relief operation.

The ARO extended their thanks for the support and generosity of FEU Administration, FEU Alumni Foundation, FEU- National Service Training Program and Community Relations, FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation, Inc. USA, Dr. Rosalind Wee, CDO Foodsphere, Philippine Public Safety College and other donors.

FEU remains committed to the spirit of TAMBayanihan in these trying times as it has always extended a helping hand to those in need.

With unwavering dedication to its core values, the institution aspires to contribute to a more positive and sustainable future for all.
