Ten students are enjoying tuition fee subsidies this school year as recipients of the Alumni-Named Scholarships for School Year 2023-2024.

Among the many applicants, four BS Nursing and six Institute of Accounts, Business, and Finance students were chosen to benefit from the Lydia A. Palaypay Endowment (LAPE) and Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso Scholarship programs, respectively. The scholars were formally recognized last Sept. 28 at a ceremony to turn over grant certificates organized by the FEU Alumni Relations Office.

LAPE, an FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation, Inc. USA initiative, was created to honor the legacy of the former Dean of the FEU Institute of Nursing, Dr. Lydia A. Palaypay. The program aims to help in the continual development of the nursing profession by supporting deserving Filipino nursing students through scholarships and other forms of financial subsidy.

Meanwhile, the Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso Scholarship Program is funded by Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, the current Chief Operating Officer of MegaWorld Corporation. She graduated from Far Eastern University in 1984 with a BS in Accountancy, cum laude. In 2018, she was awarded as one of the “Outstanding Alumni” in the Green and Gold Awards.

ARO launched the Alumni-Named Scholarships campaign to encourage alumni to help build up funds for scholarships and financial aid for the next generation of Tamaraws.
