FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation, Inc. USA held its 18th Grand Reunion in San Francisco

The 18th Grand Reunion of FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation, Inc. USA (FEUNAF, Inc. USA) finally happened after three years of waiting due to the pandemic. Co-hosted by FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation Northern California Chapter (FEUNAF-NC), the Grand Reunion was held at Hilton Hotel San Francisco Union Square last June 21 to 23, 2023. The event started with a Filipino Traditional Costume-inspired welcome night where alumni making a difference in their respective communities and professions were recognized. The 2023 Nurse Excellence Awardees include Dr. Luz Bruel Mauro for education, Dr. Rizalina Marcial Bonuel for Research, Ms. Norma Belarmino-Corcuera, MSHA, Ms. Marianela Ruiz-Jacob, MSN, and Ms. Victoria Aguilar-Palomar, MSN. On the other hand, the 2020 Nurse awardees are Dr. Rizalina Marcial-Bonuel for Administration, Dr. Brigitte Sia Cypress for Education, Dr. Julieta Gabiola for Community Service, and Dr. Glenda Ramos-Gagante for clinical practice. 

The second day started with an education session with contact hours credit granted by Southern California Nursing Board. Dr. Jeannette Livelo and Dr. Brigitte Cypress talk about the role of Research and practice doctorate in navigating staff engagement in Research and in translating evidence to clinical practice, while Dr. Emma Cuenca, Mr. Jose Planillo, MSN, and Ms. Emily Danuco, RN discussed the role of Nurse Educator for Staff and Health Care Consumers. Moreover, Ms. Lourdes Careaga, MSN; Mr. Cipriano Mayor, RNCPHQ; and Ms. Aida Archibal-Imperio share their thoughts about the role of nurses in nursing excellence. The rest of the day was dedicated to different pocket/class reunions held in various places in San Francisco. The contact hours/units were provided by the FEU Alumni Association of Southern California, an approved provider of continuing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

The reunion culminated in a Gala Night with more than 400 hundred nursing alumni from different US states, Canada, and the Philippines. FEU President Michael M. Alba, Ph.D., gave a keynote address, while Dr. John Yason of the Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing (IHSN) issued a special message. Classes celebrating their golden graduation anniversary were recognized, while the elected FEUNAF, INC. USA officers for the year 2023-2025 were introduced to the general assembly.
