Commission on Human Rights welcomes new ‘Tamaraw’ Chairperson

The Commission of Human Rights (CHR) will now be under the leadership of Atty. Leah Tanodra-Armamento. Chairperson Armamento succeeded the late Chairperson Jose Luis Martin “Chito” Gascon, who passed away in October 2021 due to Covid-19.

Prior to her stint with CHR, which started last 2015, Atty Armamento was an associate solicitor for five years at the Office of the Solicitor General. She was then moved to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and head of the Government legal panel that reviewed the Final Peace Agreement’s implementation between the Philippine Government and Moro National Liberation Front (MILF) in 1996. Atty. Tanodra-Armamento is a loud and proud alumna of Far Eastern University, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing class of 1980. A fellow of Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2007, Atty. Leah was also a recipient of the FEU 2018 Green & Gold Outstanding Alumni Award during the university’s 90th Founding Anniversary.
