Dear Fellow Tamaraws!
We are so glad to have started the year 2020 with a successful first FEU International Nursing Conference at the FEU Auditorium last February 5. Our office, in partnership with the FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation, and the FEU Institute of Nursing was able to invite exemplary alumni from Stanford University, University of Queensland, University of Miami, Baylor College of Medicines, Massachusetts General Hospital, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital to share their knowledge and expertise with almost a thousand attendees. Soon after, the Taal Volcano erupted, and Alumni Relations Office (ARO) in partnership with the FEU Volunteerism Services Office (VSO), and the Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation (NRMF) launched the Tambayanihan program. We were able to distribute more than 2,400 food packs to different evacuation centers in Batangas, Laguna, and Cavite.
The Taal Volcano catastrophe was immediately followed by the pandemic, and once again, we responded by launching the Brave As One against Covid-19 Program and distributed thousands of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), Face Masks, Vitamins, Hygiene Kits, meals, and food packs to our frontliners, stranded students, and less fortunate kababayans who were heavily affected by the pandemic. Sadly, while we were just starting to recover from the impact of the pandemic, typhoon Rolly and Ulyssess devastated many towns and cities all over Luzon and Metro Manila. With the help of various alumni groups, student councils, and the rest of the FEU Community, we conducted series of relief operations in Camarines Sur, Isabela, Cagayan, Marikina, Cainta and Rodriguez, Rizal. Moreover, we created the TamGabayAral project together with the VSO to help poor but deserving students by providing them with gadgets and internet connection so that they could continue with their online classes.
To continue to serve our alumni community during the lockdown, we migrated all our activities and services online. We now have an online Alumni Card Application, Alumni Online Store, Tamaraw Conversation (TamCon), Alumni Speakers Bureau Webinar Series, and last December 5, 2020, we had our first virtual Alumni Thanksgiving Concert in lieu of the face-to-face annual alumni homecoming. All of these initiatives were possible through the generosity of our alumni, administrators, faculty, students, and partners.
Maraming Maraming Salamat po.
