Payatas women gain aquaponics farming-skills

Several members of the Kababaihan ng Payatas, led by Sr. Maria Lourdes Velasco, gained new skills after having participated in a seminar on soilless farming last March 15 at Far Eastern University (FEU).

During the seminar, they were introduced to the innovative livelihood program on aquaponics and hydroponics farming.

Through the expertise of the resource speaker, Ferdinand Peran, an aquaponics and hydroponics system practitioner and builder technician, the participants learned about different innovative soilless farming techniques and saw a glimpse of the meticulous yet enjoyable farming process—from seed germination, transplanting, crop maintenance, to harvesting. FEU-AA visits Brgy. Quilitisan for donations and capacity-building seminar

The FEU Alumni Relations Office, through the assistance of the SWORD FEUSF Alumni International Association(ROTC), donated a brand new motorcycle with a sidecar to Quilitisan Livelihood Credit Cooperative, a cooperative initially organized by FEU Community Extension Services to help uplift the standard of living among residents of the said coastal community. The organization manages different small business ventures such as rice selling, mushroom cultivation, and soap making. The motorcycle with a sidecar will help the cooperative transport its goods and products to its customers.

Apart from the donated motorcycle with “bangkulong” and refrigerator, the cooperative members also benefitted from the capacity-building seminar where Dr. Rosalind Wee, Vice-Chair of the W Group of Companies and a trustee of the FEU Alumni Association, Inc. (FEU-AFI), shared her knowledge and experience in managing a business. FEU-AFI president Christopher Ferrareza and SWORD representative Allan Flores were also present during the seminar and turn-over ceremony. Read more >>>

FEU-AA cheers up children for Christmas

The FEU Alumni Relations Office (ARO), in partnership with the FEU Community Extension Services and the FEU Alumni Foundation, Inc., spread joy and a festive atmosphere in Barangay Quilitisan, Calatagan, Batangas recently.

The children from one of the university’s partner communities had a wonderful day full of excitement and happiness as they were treated to delectable meals, thrilling games, and wonderful gifts. Read more >>>

Tamaraws go on a medical mission in Ilocos

FEU Nursing Alumni Foundation (FEUNAF-USA), a US-Based 501c certified non-profit organization, led by Nelson Co and Roselily Chan of its East Coast Chapter, together with the FEU Alumni Relations Office (FEU-ARO), conducted a Cataract Surgical/Medical Mission in Narvacan District Hospital in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur recently.

The medical mission is part of the joint effort of FEUNAF-USA and FEU-ARO to contribute to the UN-Sustainable Development Goal # 3 or in ensuring healthy lives and promotion of well-being for all ages.

Almost 200 patients were assessed and given reading glasses during the first day. Five eye doctors led by Dr. Leo Pacquing (a BS Biology and Medicine graduate of FEU) conducted the initial screening. Simultaneously, the other half of the group was led by FEUNAF USA Inc. president-elect Amor Collera, former FEU Vice President for Academic Affairs Lydia Palaypay, Perlita Lacson Omega, and FEU-AA Trustees Dr. Marilou Cao visited Bulanos Elementary School for a feeding program and distribution of gifts to the children through the support of Pay-it-Forward. FEU Alumni Gathered for a Grand Alumni Homecoming

FEU-AA Trustees with FEU Chairman Montinola

The FEU Alumni Relations Office and FEU Alumni Association (FEU-AA) organized the 2023 FEU Grand Alumni Homecoming on December 2, 2023. Entitled “Onward Together,” this year’s celebration is anchored to FEU’s 95th anniversary theme, “Onward.” For the first time in so many years, the FEU Alumni Homecoming gathered not just the alumni of the Manila campus but all the campuses in the FEU Group of Schools: Alabang, Cavite, Diliman, FEU Tech, High School, Makati, and Roosevelt. This event also marked the start of the collaboration and shared services of the Alumni Relations Offices of the FEU Group of Schools. Like the iconic Sarimanok, which symbolizes dynamic unity arising from diversity, the Alumni Relations Offices of the different campuses will work together to achieve their objectives and targets in line with FEU’s Aspiration 2028. Read more >>>

The newly appointed officers of the Far Eastern University-Alumni Foundation Inc. (FEUAFI) swore their oath of office during the brief Oath-Taking Ceremony officiated by the new Vice President for Corporate Affairs, Rowena Capulong Reyes, Ph.D., last April 28, 2023. Vice President Reyes conveyed her enthusiasm and eagerness to collaborate with the FEUAFI officers in a brief but heartfelt statement. Read more >>>
