Young Frontliner

Daewoo Adam Almiron

FEU-IN Batch 2018

Staff Nurse, St.Luke’s Medical Center-Quezon City

After being a Person Under Investigation (PUI) then testing negative, I am finally back in the frontlines!

Our unit was converted to the COVID ward to cater to more patients affected by this global pandemic. Being away from home during this fight was not easy. Discharging patients who were negative already was a source of great comfort.

In a short period, we experienced a lot of intubations and post-mortem care (the saddest of all). The goodbyes became familiar stories or scenarios. But what affected me most was when one of my COVID positive patients cried while I was doing my rounds. I could see and feel her fear.  I held her hand and told her that the Lord is with her and that I would include her in my prayers. I became more emotional as she thanked me for being a frontliner during these trying times.

How did I survive all this? FEU taught me to #BeBrave. Mabuhay, Tamaraw Nurses.

A week after Daewoo submitted this article, he tested positive and is now battling Covid-19 again this time not as a nurse but as a patient.
