FEU expands community partnerships in San Fabian, Pangasinan

The FEU Alumni Relations Office (ARO), FEU Alumni Association (FEU-AA), and FEU National Service Training Program (FEU-NSTP) conducted a series of community engagement activities in San Fabian, Pangasinan, reinforcing the University’s commitment to education, community development, and social responsibility.

As part of their continuing support for educational empowerment, ARO, FEU-AA and FEU-NSTP, turned over computer units to the San Fabian Tamaraw Learning Center (San Fabian TLC). The donation builds on a previous initiative launched last year to establish TLC, an Alternative Learning Center where public-school students with learning difficulties can receive academic support outside school from volunteer teachers. It also aims to expand learners’ access to technology and digital learning resources. A basic orientation on the responsible use and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was also conducted to introduce students to emerging digital tools that can enhance their learning experience.

The delegation also visited Bigbiga Elementary School in support of Brigada Eskwela 2026. School supplies and classroom improvement materials were donated to help prepare the school for the opening of classes and provide students with a more conducive learning environment.

Students of Bigbiga Elementary School pose with the school supplies distributed through a community outreach initiative led by FEU-ARO, FEU-NSTP, and FEU-AA. Present during the activity were FEU-ARO Director Celmer Santos, Barangay Bigbiga Captain Rodolfo Mendez, the Principal of Bigbiga Elementary School, FEU-NSTP Coordinator Jerome Requidan, and FEU-AA Project Officer Rashid Matthew Samson.

In addition to its educational initiatives, the team conducted an assessment meeting with women community members of San Fabian to better understand their needs and explore potential alignment with existing livelihood programs of FEU-ARO and FEU-AA that could support economic empowerment and long-term sustainability.

Women from San Fabian meet with representatives from FEU-ARO and FEU-AA to discuss community needs and opportunities for future outreach and development initiatives.

The discussion served as a valuable platform for dialogue and collaboration, allowing participants to share their experiences, aspirations, and ideas for future community-based livelihood projects. Through these conversations, ARO, FEU-AA, and FEU-NSTP aim to develop responsive programs that will help improve the quality of life of women and their families.

These initiatives reflect the continuing commitment of ARO, FEU-AA, and FEU-NSTP to fostering meaningful partnerships and creating positive social impact through education, volunteerism, and community engagement.

The activities support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by promoting inclusive learning opportunities, supporting women’s empowerment, and exploring sustainable livelihood initiatives for communities.
