Makabayani” Youth empowered by TAYO, FEU

Far Eastern University hosted a gathering of “Makabayani” youth leaders from across the Philippines for the 21st Search for the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations Awards (TAYO 21) last Aug. 16.

In collaboration with the Alumni Relations Office (ARO) and the Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation (NRMF), TAYO 21 kicked off with an Opening Workshop on Impact Storytelling. This workshop empowered representatives from the top 20 youth organizations to share their advocacies and the stories of their communities.

Echoing the words of national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, “Kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan” (“The youth are the hope of the nation),” the TAYO Awards Foundation continues to embody this vision. Founded two decades ago by former senator Francis Pangilinan and then National Youth Commission chairperson Paolo Benigno Aquino IV, the TAYO remains committed to its mission of finding, recognizing, and celebrating the efforts of youth organizations across the Philippines and their contributions.

The university first partnered with the TAYO Awards Foundation in 2022. Since then, FEU has been hosting its annual closing Award Ceremonies. Now in time for its 21st year, the TAYO Foundation is broadening its partnership with FEU. In addition to its premiere Awarding Ceremony, the collaboration has now introduced Opening Workshops and training sessions for FEU student leaders.

True to its theme, “Makabayani,” TAYO 21 celebrates the spirit of Bayanihan by empowering and capacitating young leaders, through a series of strategies, such as capacity-building training, organizational mentorship, and collaboration and networking with like-minded youth. These opportunities will enhance their impact, sharpening their skills ahead of the National Finals Pitching Competition, where finalists and awardees will enjoy several perks and incentives, such as a seed grant for projects, and the opportunity to join the TAYO Alumni Network.

The university remains committed to creating an environment that fosters excellence and integrity, helping shape the next generation of leaders. Dedicated to progress, development, and quality education, the university is excited to empower the Filipino youth for nation-building. #BraverTogether
