In celebration of its 95th founding anniversary, Far Eastern University, through the Alumni Relations Office, honored 29 of its exemplary alumni during the Green and Gold Awards held last February 23, 2023, at the FEU Main Auditorium. The awardees included nine Sports Hall of Fame Awardees, four Cultural Awardees, and sixteen Outstanding Alumni, all recognized for their extraordinary achievements in their respective fields, the honor and prestige they bring to the University, and their contribution to societal advancement.
Chair Aurelio Montinola III, Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs Atty. Gianna R. Montinola, and Alumni Relations Director Mr. Celmer Santos conferred the awards to the distinguished alumni honorees. Also present during the awarding ceremony were Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Maria Teresa Trinidad P. Tinio, and FEU President Dr. Michael M. Alba. Sec. Amenah Pangandaman, one of the recipients of this year’s award, delivered the acceptance speech while Dr. Khamis Elessi, also an awardee, gave his appreciation message on behalf of the awardees.
Dr. Alba capped off the night with an inspiring message to the honorees, “from now on, you’ll be lodestars of our University, shining lights of Fortitude, Excellence, and Uprightness, who will serve as inspirations and beacons for students and your fellow alumni as they navigate their own life journeys.” The Green and Gold Awards, which draw from the University’s official colors, takes place every 5 years. According to the founder Dr. Nicanor Reyes Sr., “The Green symbolizes the youth as the fair home of the fatherland to whom the University is committed to giving the best education, thus sprouting from their mind and heart their potentials to become productive, upright citizens of the country and the world. Gold represents the gold standard of service to the creator, the nation, and the world that Far Eastern University always aspires to reach.”
