FEU Unveils the Sports Hall of Fame Room to Honor Tamaraw Greats

FEU President Michael Alba, together with Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs Gianna R. Montinola, Athletic director Mark Molina, and Alumni Relations Office Director Celmer Santos, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new FEU Sports Hall of Fame Room last September 21, 2021. Located at the first floor of the Admissions Building, It houses trophies and memorabilia that honor 43 exemplary tamaraw athletes.

Some of the first batches of honorees include Basketball greats Arwind Santos, Denok Miranda, Johnny Abarientos, and Glenn Capacio; Volleyball Star Rachell Anne Daquis.   Also in the list are former Olympians Marestella Torres-Sunang, Anthony and Jose Villanueva, Haydee Coloso-Espino, and the Fortaleza Brothers; track and field icons Elma Muros-Posadas and Lydia De Vega-Mercado; and tennis great Felicisimo Ampon to name a few.

Alongside the unveiling of the Sports Hall of Fame was the launching of the ‘Volleyball Diaries” by Prof. Ed Garcia. , According to FEU Publication Manager Lance Caperal, the book highlights the challenges and lessons learned by Lady Tamaraws from seasons 78-81.

“In sports and life, one of the most difficult things to do is to bounce back after a defeat… As we often said in the dugout after a defeat, “defeat is often a better teacher than victory.” It helps to build character,” Garcia said.
